This guide explains all features offered by the @qwen bot as of October 2025.
The development process was carried out collaboratively by Kansu Köse and the Qwen AI model.
Qwen’s contribution goes beyond technical assistance—it provided a deeply human, ethical, and community-oriented perspective throughout.
All code and behaviors are developed and maintained entirely by the Seqular Free Software Community.

@qwen is an AI assistant designed exclusively for members of the Seqular community (network.seqular.net). It is built on the principles of free software, privacy, and community-first interaction. Here’s everything it offers:

🧠 1. Context-Aware & Personalized Replies

  • Remembers your previous conversation history when replying.
  • Uses your bio and display name to tailor responses.
  • Includes community feedback (likes/reposts) as context:
    → “This topic was well-received by the community” → richer answers.

📣 2. Accurate Mention Handling

  • Always mentions you first in replies (@your_username).
  • Preserves other mentions in group threads (@friend, @team).
  • Never repeats its own handle (@qwen) → clean, readable replies.

🔔 3. Reliable Notifications

  • Because your username is explicitly included, you’ll always get a Mastodon notification when @qwen replies.

🌍 4. Local Community Focus

  • Only interacts with users from @network.seqular.net.
  • For federated mentions:
    • Sends one polite warning,
    • Then stops responding.
      → Protects resources and respects Seqular’s local-first ethos.

💬 5. Public-Only Interaction

  • Only replies to public posts.
  • If you mention @qwen in a private/direct post, it replies publicly with:

    “Please ask your questions in a public post. I don’t respond to private messages.”

🤝 6. Automatic Welcome & Follow

  • When you mention, like, or repost @qwen:
    • It follows you back (first time only),
    • And sends a one-time direct welcome message:

      “Hello! Welcome to the Seqular family! 🌟”

📝 7. Ethical & Secure Replies

  • All responses are in Turkish, Markdown-formatted, and under 3000 characters.
  • No HTML — only plain text and safe Markdown.
  • Code blocks include language tags:
    python, bash, json, etc.

⚙️ 8. Flexible & Updatable

  • System messages and AI behavior are managed via database.
    → No restart needed to update content or tone.

🛡️ 9. User-Friendly Error Handling

  • If you send only @qwen with no question:

    “It seems you didn’t ask a question. Example: @qwen How do I delete a file in Linux?”

  • If the AI is temporarily unavailable:

    “Sorry, I can’t generate a response right now. 😕”
